Yes! It really happened. On July 31, 2010, we finally got married after a four year engagement. The wedding took place at Marilyn's church and, as it turned out, it was the pastor's final act before he retired after 35 years. It was also the first birthday for Chuck's second grandson, Adam, which was celebrated within the service and at the reception.
The weather was perfect with slightly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low 80s, and mild breezes. An absolutely perfect day. On the Wednesday following the wedding, it really became official--the wedding license and registration arrived in the mail as can be seen in the thumbnail to the left.
In short, everything went as well as planned and that is a rarity! We went on a short honeymoon to Quebec City. The few photos of Quebec are in the wedding gallery.
Many of the photos are the gift of a life-long friend and professional wedding photographer, Brian Hemmis. His photos were a wedding gift from him and his wife Marie. Many of the other photos are from the best man, Dave Bodner, and I am indebted to these two for their generosity and quality of the photos. Without them, some wonderful moments would not have been shot. A few are from family and friends. Thank you all, not only for sharing in this special occasion with us, but also for your extra effort to take such wonderful photos.

Movie of Vows -- 15-Minute Movie of Vows
This video was shot using my digital camera's video feature. It was shot by one of the guests, Ryan MacCubbin, in a front pew behind Marilyn's son's family. You will notice one of the grand girls wandering up to the alter during the ceremony. I thought it would be a five-minute task for Ryan, but it proved to be much more. Considering the conditions, Ryan did a fantastic job!

Chuck’s Nuptial Covenant
My Dearest Marilyn, You entered my life four years ago following a time of deep sorrow and restored my soul through love, hope and joy.
While we may cherish the memories of our pasts, I look forward to creating a new life with you overflowing with wonderful memories.
Our travels may not always be filled with beauty and joy, so I pledge compassion and help when things look dark; encouragement and support in times of sickness, and my love everyday, forever and through eternity.
I also pledge to do my able best to make you always feel loved, to have a reason to laugh out loud everyday, to give you tolerance when we disagree, and promise to give you hope that tomorrow will be better than today. Before this group of family, friends, and God, I declare that I love you— today, tomorrow and forever.
Marilyn's Marriage Vow
God has blessed our lives with happiness once more.
Because of you I can laugh and love again. While we cherish our past memories with Debbie and Dave, I look forward to our new life together creating new memories and experiences with you.
Now, in the presence of God and family and friends I promise to bring joy and patience to our lives, to care for you, laugh and cry with you, always be open and honest with you and to love you always, from this day forward.

You bring sunshine to each other
You bring sunshine to your kin.
All the joy that's on your faces, from the places that you have been--
Show the love that God has placed so very deep within your hearts.
Two hearts, now one, He has joined your life "carts" into one double--
blessed "vehicle" to carry his load of love so well.By Laura Griggs, Olathe, KS (Chuck's cousin)
