Facilities   Office and Production Facilities

Over the years, the Bliley Electric Company occupied space in several different facilities. This page is a gateway to a gallery of photos of each location.

1929-1931: 649 WEST 9TH STREET

The company started out in the basement of the family home. That was tolerated for a while when it was a "hobby". But, when Frank Dawson Bliley decided to convert a part-time activity into a business, his parents were less tolerant and after a year, he was told to find another place.

Sorry--No photo available, but I am working on it.

1933-1966: UNION STATION BUILDING

1933 Floor Plan--This floor plan was found on the back of a draft letter written by Dawson Bliley and dated June 1933. Total space is approximately 1,000 square feet of "office", "lab", and "shop" space on the second floor mezzazine area. It was larger than the back room of Collman's offices, and a very small fraction of what was occupied a decade later.

1935 Factory Tour--These photos may well be within the space in the 1933 floor plan.
